Our cross-border extra grants you the same waiver and protection cover in multiple countries as you get in the original country of rental.
Where can you drive?
When you cross the borders of the original country of rental to enter one or more of the countries allowed, a cross-border fee apply. (see general rental conditions for the full list of countries).
Paying for this option allows you to benefit, in the authorized countries, from the same protections as when driving in the country of rental. The cross-border fee will apply only once for the duration of your rental, no matter how many times you cross borders.
Rental requirements
Driving Licence: Each named driver must show their full driving licence valid for the total rental period in the original country of rental and in all countries you intend to visit.
Taking your vehicle outside the country
Unless agreed otherwise, you may only use the vehicle within the original country of rental. With the cross-border fee, you can travel to the authorized countries listed below :
- Andorra
- Austria
- Belgium
- Denmark
- Finland
- France (Metropolitan)
- Germany
- Italy
- Luxembourg
- Monaco
- North Ireland
- Norway
- Portugal
- Spain (Mainland)
- Sweden
- Switzerland (except for commercial vehicles)
- The Netherlands
- United Kingdom

If you intentionally do not declare to us that you are driving the vehicle outside the country of rental and/or fail to pay the cross-border fee and you don’t return the vehicle to the original country of rental, you may be required to compensate us the costs associated with the repatriation by us of the
vehicle to said country.
In addition, and depending on the circumstances, you may lose the benefit of any damage waivers or protection products.
If you have been provided with a replacement vehicle and you do not return the replacement vehicle to the country in which you received it, you may be asked to compensate us for costs related to the repatriation of this vehicle by us to the said country.
