For ceramics and sculpture, the Lowe Art Museum is a must-visit, with impressive collections of Greco-Roman, Renaissance, and Baroque origin.
If travelling as a family, Jungle Island is a top pick. This expansive tropical garden houses a wide range of exotic wildlife, including red kangaroos and gibbons. Parrot Cove is also located on the site and features a tropical beach with a water playground.
For those who want to get active in Miami, there are plenty of choices. The Oleta River State Park offers kayaking to a mangrove island, and there are kilometres of tracks around the area for biking.

Fort Lauderdale
Just over a 30-minute drive north of Miami (via I-95 N) is the city of Fort Lauderdale. This popular destination has a relaxed beach vibe that’s completely removed from the hustle and bustle of city life. Fort Lauderdale’s main beach is the best place to relax and unwind. It’s easily accessible, with parking just south of Las Olas Boulevard.
Retail therapy is also on offer here. The Sawgrass Mills shopping centre at Sunrise is 15 minutes west of the city, and one of the largest malls in the United States.
