Lamezia Terme, commonly called Lamezia, is an Italian city in the Catanzaro province of the Calabria region of Italy. Built in 1550, the Malta Bastion stand guard over Lamezia. Built as a watchtower by the Knights of Malta it is the most impressive of many ruins in the area and is the symbol of Lamezia. Further explore the regions history at the Diocesan Museum, home to several paintings and art objects from the 17th and 18th century.

Take the A3 heading south. Driving for roughly one hour 30 minutes. Reggio Calabria is the largest city in the region and sits across the straits of Messina from the Isle of Sicily. The Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Reggio Calabria, is arguably one of the regions most important attractions. Siderno
For a day at the beach, head to the town of Siderno on the eastern coast of the peninsula. About an-hour-and-20-minute drive away from Lamezia, it has wide sandy beaches and numerous cafes and restaurants. Take the A3 south, turning left onto the SS682 towards the coast and on to Siderno.
Parco Nazionale della Sila
The Parco Nazionale della Sila is a great place for nature lovers. An hour and 40 minutes' drive north from Lamezia via the A3, E846 and SS177 leads you into the park. One of the region's foremast nature reserves, a hike through the park, founded in 1997, rewards visitors with spectacular views and scenery. The park region was noted for the cleanest air in Europe in a study conducted in 2010.
