Billing information regarding fuel and electric charging
Avis informs you: how do we charge for fuel and electric charging
For your convenience, Avis provides you with a fully fueled vehicle and offers you various options for accounting for the fuel consumed. In all cases, you can choose to refuel the vehicle yourself.
1 - Bring Back Full
You will not be charged for fuel if you bring back the vehicle with the tank filled-up (upon presentation of proof of purchase of fuel).
2 - You choose the ‘Fuel Up Front” option (at the counter upon departure of the vehicle)
You buy a full tank of fuel for the vehicle upon departure, calculated at the market price, and you don't have to worry about finding a service station before returning the vehicle.
Super unleaded : 1.68 € Incl. VAT/liter* Diesel : 1.78 € Incl. VAT/liter*
This option is automatically cancelled if :
- you return the vehicle with a full tank of fuel (option 1),
- you drive less than 120 km, then you benefit from option 3, which is more economical for you,
- you drive less than 160 km, then you benefit from solution 4, which is more economical for you
3 - You did not fill up the tank before returning the vehicle, or you have no proof purchase of fuel and you travelled less than 120 km.
You automatically benefit from the “Easy fuel” service for a fixed fee** of :
- 24 € including VAT for city locations, railway stations and airports locations in Belgium.
4 - You did not fill up the tank before returning the vehicle or you do not have proof of filling-up and you have driven more than 120km.
Pay on return applies for a flat fee of :
Super unleaded: 4.22 € Incl. VAT/liter* Diesel : 4.32 € Incl. VAT/liter*
For rentals of less than 300 km, Avis evaluates fuel consumption by multiplying the distance covered by the vehicle manufacturer's urban cycle fuel consumption index, increased by a coefficient ranging from 0 to 25% depending on the vehicle.
For rentals of more than 300 km, Avis assesses fuel consumption by referring to the fuel gauge, measured in 1/8ths of a tank. This figure is then related to the capacity of the tank, which determines the amount of fuel consumed.
If, however, the vehicle does not have a full tank of fuel on departure, we ask you to return the vehicle filled-up only with the same level of fuel.
Otherwise, you will only pay the difference between the fuel level upon return and the fuel level on departure, under the conditions set out above (solutions 2 to 4).
If you return the vehicle with a higher level of fuel than that present at the departure, Avis will reimburse you for the excess fuel at the price of solution 2 (unless you can provide proof of purchase at a higher price).

**This amount is a flat-rate estimate of the cost of the fuel used from 0 to 120 km, whatever the use of the vehicle and the distance travelled.
5 – Electric charging charges for returning electric vehicles
You must return your electric vehicle with a battery level of at least 70%, or the same percentage of battery charge as when you picked up the vehicle.
